There are multiple purposes for this general plug-in for WinAmp.
This was written for multiple purposes:
The first purpose was so that I could learn to write DLL's, as well as WinAmp plugins.
The second was to provide a simpler manner to cut-and-paste to the clipboard the song currently playing in WinAmp.
The third was to automatically update the signature file that I use for my email and usenet clients.
The fourth was to maintain a play list log of songs I've played through WinAmp.
The fifth was to provide easier access to basic WinAmp controls without having to "dig" for them when using other applications. I added a new tray icon with it's own menu to allow quicker control of WinAmp's basic track positioning functions. Also, by simply left-clicking on the new tray icon, you can toggle pause/play for WinAmp.
Installation is fairly simple; copy gen_iw.dll into WinAmp's plugin directory. For most users, this will be c:\program files\winamp\plugins. If WinAmp is already running, you'll need to restart it. Make sure you use WinAmp's General Purpose Plugins Preferences dialog to configure DWPj's WinAmp Email Signature Writer to configure the plug-in.
